Manchester United in a transfer tussle with Liverpool for Arnaut Danjuma
According to the Spanish news outlet El Periodico Mediterraneo (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are engaged in a transfer tussle with Liverpool for the services of Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma ahead of the next season. He enjoyed a great campaign with the Spanish side last term, having played a key role in their impressive run in the Champions League.
Despite enjoying a successful time at Estadio de la Ceramica, Danjuma is interested in returning to the Premier League. The forward has publicly conveyed his desire to move to the English top-flight one day, and it is claimed that he is lining up a potential transfer this summer.
Top officials at Old Trafford are tracking the Dutch international as of now and would be delighted to see this development. However, they would need to fight off interest from the Reds, who are keen to get their hands on Danjuma as well moving forward.
Should Man Utd target Danjuma?
It seems that we are constantly getting linked with Dutch stars following Erik ten Hag’s appointment as the new manager. We have already seen how Ajax star Jurrien Timber and Barcelona superstar Frenkie de Jong are being touted as potential targets for the Red Devils in the summer transfer window.
Now it appears that Danjuma could join Timber and de Jong on the shortlist for possible summer transfers. Perhaps their connection with ten Hag could help us get the edge over Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are in a far better state than us at this moment.
With Danjuma also intending to move to England this summer, the Manchester club are given more initiative to reach an agreement. The 25-year-old has been excellent this season under Unai Emery, playing as a centre-forward which is an area that we are desperate to bolster this summer.
We have been overly dependent on Cristiano Ronaldo in the previous campaign, which is not ideal as the superstar needs support to perform to his best. Edinson Cavani would also leave us this summer which calls for the need to bring in a quality striker anyway.

Danjuma can be that man, and his displays in the Champions League also indicate that he can do it against the big guns as well. He would not be expensive either, as we can trigger the €45million release clause in his contract to add him to our squad.
Surprisingly enough, MEN are claiming that the Mancunians are unlikely to actively pursue the Dutch international ahead of the next term. That is quite shocking when he could be the solution to our problems in the centre-forward department.
