Transfer News: Manchester United set to battle with Newcastle and AC Milan for Sven Botman
According to transfer news from TuttoMercatoWeb, Newcastle United and AC Milan pose a significant threat to Manchester United and their transfer approach for Lille defender Sven Botman.
Even though injuries have limited the exposure of Sven Botman in this campaign, he has flourished whenever he played for Lille. He has been solid and consistent in the 32 matches he played across all competitions this season and has helped the French team concede fewer goals.
It was previously believed that Sven Botman had his eyes set on a switch to AC Milan. However, the ongoing takeover complication has made it difficult for the Italian team to show aggression in their transfer pursuit.

Amid such a situation Newcastle United have made a lucrative contract offer to the Dutch defender. The Magpies were interested in the 22-year-old since becoming cash-rich and wanted to make him a member of their improved squad.
The duo have made it difficult for Manchester United who have also been interested in signing the Dutch defender from Lille. The new Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag knows the player very well as he played in the Ajax 21 team before switching to France. Hence, the Dutchman might push his team to sign the 22-year-old in order to strengthen the squad.
Can United secure the transfer of Sven Botman?
The United defence line has suffered horribly in this campaign as the crucial defenders have failed to put out constituent performances. The blunders from Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly have put the team in difficult positions several times. Whereas, the recurring injury of Raphaël Varane and form drop of Victor Lindelöf hasn’t helped much either.

The Dutch manager is believed to be desperate in improving his defence and would be eyeing securing some crucial reinforcements in the coming summer window.
Considering his previous relationship with Sven Botman, he might be better equipped to get the best out of the Dutch defender. However, in order to use him at United, the Red Devils’ board first have to secure his signature, which seems pretty challenging at this moment.
