Manchester United players identify teammate who has been targeting Harry Maguire
According to the Mirror, the Manchester United dressing room has identified the player who is guilty of targeting Harry Maguire over his performance this season.
It is a known fact that the Red Devils centre-back suffered a dreadful season and has looked less than convincing at the back. As things stand, Man United have the worst defensive record among the teams in the top eight.
Unable to find a spot in the Champions League next season, the players including Maguire must be in a constant state of frustration. It appears as though the defender’s poor performance in almost every match has made the dressing room question his selection in the team.
As per the Times (h/t the Mirror), the centre-back’s teammates have not been impressed by his standards and even consider it to be below par despite being a first-team regular. Interim manager Ralf Rangnick was also questioned regarding the squad selection by some of the United players earlier this season.
The squad have now identified a player who has perhaps taken jibes at Maguire. There seems to be a level of distrust in the dressing room that needs to be addressed by the new management team.
New Season- More United than ever
Incoming manager Erik ten Hag already has a lot on his plate, from deciding which players he wants to keep to securing the transfers of players who can integrate with the squad. There are no suggestions yet as to who Maguire’s nemesis is but the club will do well to act swiftly and decisively.
The distrust formed in the dressing room would be something the manager would immediately want to address. The toxic environment in the dressing room may affect the teammates from progressing in the matches and surely ten Hag would want to avoid unnecessary distractions.

ten Hag has much on his plate and will need to address these issues ahead of the 2022/23 campaign. The Red Devils can only progress forward provided they present a united front. After all united we stand, divided we fall.
Maguire’s performances may be poor and there could be a possibility of him relinquishing the skipper’s role next season. But the ‘poisonous’ environment in the dressing room is something that needs to be eliminated swiftly. The Red Devils need to be more hungry, more positive, and more ‘united’ than ever on and off the pitch.
