Manchester United sign highly-rated teenage sensation Stevenage goalkeeper Elyh Harrison ahead of the 2022/23 season
According to UtdDistrict on Twitter (h/t The Sun), Manchester United have completed the signing of Stevenage goalkeeper Elyh Harrison ahead of the new season, getting started quite early on their expected transfer activity in the summer.
The Red Devils are looking forward to the arrival of Erik ten Hag in the summer, who has been tasked with turning around the fortunes of the club after going through a terrible campaign. Recent results have also ensured that they have failed to qualify for the Champions League next term.
It is no secret that the Manchester side are planning a squad overhaul ahead of the new season, and the upcoming transfer window is expected to see a flurry of incomings and outgoings at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen what transfer plans ten Hag has in mind.
Despite enduring a terrible season, the Red Devils have not had any issues when it came to the goalkeeping department, where much credit goes to David de Gea. The Spaniard has pulled off some amazing saves this year, which has prevented worse results than the team have struggled through.
Training with the senior side at 15
In a bid to further strengthen the area, Man United have now agreed on a deal with Stevenage to sign Harrison, who is highly rated by the League Two side. The player is only 16 years old and is tipped to be a star in the future.
He has been plying his trade for the club’s U18s team. However, since last year, he made a name for himself by linking up with the senior squad for training. That is a massive achievement for the starlet to be proud of in his fledgling career.
Although not much information is known about the transfer, it is highly unlikely that Harrison will be thrust into the first team. The Old Trafford outfit would be cautious enough to develop and train the teenager further.
The academy seems to have gained a fantastic addition in the goalkeeping department, and they are sure to help him out in every way possible to help him continue his progress. United have a rich history of graduates from Carrington breaking into the senior side, and Harrison could join this list.

He need not look any further than Dean Henderson, who is a success story from the club’s academy to establish himself in the senior side. The Englishman currently acts as deputy to de Gea, providing competition to the Spaniard for the position of the team’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Hopefully, Harrison can prove to be even more successful and actually become the Red Devils’ No.1 in the coming years. He will have a manager in him that is known for trusting and developing youngsters, with ten Hag gaining a reputation for himself by taking a young Ajax team to the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019.
