Transfer News: Manchester United target Alex Jimenez signs renewal contract with Real Madrid
According to transfer news from AS (h/t SportsWitness), Talented youngster Álex Jiménez who had offers from several big clubs, including Manchester United, has chosen to extend his stay with Real Madrid.
Jiménez has risen to fame due to his sensational output for the Real Madrid youth setup, La Fábrica Blanca. The 16-year-old right-back has shown impressive potential to reach great heights if appropriately guided. His talents on the pitch have attracted some European heavyweights as well.
Chelsea and Bayern Munich were intensely interested in the full-back. At the same time, Man United were believed to have participated in the bidding for the highly talented youngster.
However, Real Madrid took a tremendous interest in extending the stay of their prize asset. Los Blancos are believed to have secured the signature of the 16-year-old, which would keep him at the club until 2027. His renewal deal would probably end the advancement of foreign teams in the transfer battle.
Blow for Manchester United?
Manchester United have lacked the consistency and effort in every position in this campaign, and the right-back spot is no different. The Red Devils started the season with Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the right-back spot but swiftly found out that the Englishman lacks contribution in attacking transitions.
After the arrival of Ralf Rangnick, Man United switched to Diogo Dalot as their first choice right back. Even though the 23-year-old showed some promising performances in the initial few games, his defensive output couldn’t get the job done.
Even though 16-year-old Jiménez wouldn’t be a great help to the team at the current time, he could become a future star considering the vast potential and rapid growth he has been showing throughout the term.
