Agent of Manchester United star Edinson Cavani rules out player’s exit from Europe
According to transfer news from SportsWitness, While speaking in an interview with El País, the agent of Manchester United star Edinson Cavani revealed that the Uruguayan star has no plans of leaving Europe.
The veteran played a heroic role during the 2020/21 season, helping Manchester United secure a top-four spot. But, the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo has pushed the Uruguayan outside of the first team. Having only played 18 matches across all competitions, the 35-year-old scored two goals and one assist, a below-average output from a world-class player.
Cavani has a contract with Manchester United until June 30th. Due to the lack of game time and unsuccessful spells in the current season, it is uncertain whether the Uruguayan star will extend his stay with the Red Devils.
Cavani has attracted interest from Argentinian side Boca Juniors, who are believed to have kept a close tab on the situation of the 35-year-old striker.
However, when questioned about the transfer approach of Cavani, his brother and agent, Walter Guglielmone, revealed that the Uruguayan star’s current focus involves continuing in Europe, eventually ruling out any possibility of a move to Argentina.
“At the moment, that is not true… Everything is dynamic. The priority is to continue in Europe.”
Will Edinson Cavani stay at Manchester United?
Despite being 37-year-old, Cristiano Ronaldo remains a world-class poacher in front of goal. The Portuguese star’s individual brilliance has helped the Red Devils win several matches this term, reflecting his influence on the team. Considering the productive output, Ronaldo probably wouldn’t be the one to be left alone on the bench.
However, the United coaching staff probably might not yet find a way to play Edinson Cavani and Ronaldo in the same starting lineup. Ralf Rangnick has preferred young legs for the wider roles, pushing Cavani out of action.

As Cavani isn’t getting any younger either, it might be best for both parties to part ways in the summer. A fresh start could be just what both sides need.
However, if we follow Guglielmone’s comments, Cavani might not take an away route from Europe. As we don’t know whether any top-tier European teams have plans for signing the 35-year-old, we can’t say for sure that Cavani wouldn’t be continuing at Manchester United.
