Manchester United consider signing RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku after internal talks
According to Marc Behrenbeck via Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports on Twitter, Manchester United are assessing their option to sign RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku as they have already held internal talks over a potential move. He has been in outrageous form this season and has been crucial for his side’s rise in the second half of this campaign.
Man United have added Nkunku to their shortlist, which includes potential targets for the summer transfer window. They reached that decision after holding discussions over a prospective move. Ralf Rangnick is a keen admirer of his talents, and his side is contemplating signing the attacker after this term.
Surprisingly enough, it is claimed that the Red Devils are hesitant to push forward for a summer transfer at this moment. That is because they feel like there are too many options in the attack, which has prompted them to put a lid on their pursuit to sign the Frenchman for now.
Make sense, Man Utd!
The current stance from the Manchester club is a bit puzzling, considering how Edinson Cavani will leave this summer. His contract will expire after this season, and they are not willing to renew the deal. That does make sense, looking at his struggles with injuries this term.
That alone opens up a spot for Nkunku to come in, but for some reason, Rangnick’s side thinks otherwise right now. What’s more, it is also claimed that they are primarily searching to bring in a striker besides Cristiano Ronaldo to add to their squad for the next term.
Even Ronaldo has not been consistent enough like Nkunku, which should make the latter’s signing even more obvious. While the Leipzig ace is more of a false nine rather than an out-and-out striker, teams like Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have shown that a centre-forward is not always necessary to achieve success.
Hence, we must do our best to bring in the Bundesliga superstar at the end of this campaign. He has garnered a ridiculous 28 goals alongside 18 assists this season from 42 appearances across all competitions. That makes him one of the best attackers in Europe right now when it comes to raw statistics, and bringing him to Old Trafford would be a real statement from our side.
That being said, it would be wise to contact the new incoming manager this summer regarding their opinion on Nkunku. Erik ten Hag is said to be the preferred option, so perhaps the Dutchman can be asked if he wants the Frenchman in his side or not.

It is hard to imagine any manager saying no to a versatile, talented attacking player like Nkunku who is in the prime years of his career, but Man United must understand that the manager should be handed players he wants to manage and sees as a part of their system.
