Fabrizio Romano: New agent to hold transfer meetings for Manchester United target Darwin Nunez
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the new agent of Manchester United target Darwin Nunez will hold meetings with interested parties over a potential transfer this summer. He has taken his game to newer heights, having become one of the most prolific attackers across Europe this season.
Romano has confirmed that Nunez will depart Benfica at the end of the current campaign. Man United have already held internal talks regarding the prospect of signing the forward this summer. His new agent will search for the best options available for his client to join after this term.
The Manchester club will need to part ways with £68million in transfer fees to get their hands on the Uruguay international. Arsenal and Chelsea are tracking the striker at this moment as they admire his attacking attributes. The latter is stated to be currently scouting the centre-forward to make a move this summer, as per the Sun.
Man Utd must sign Nunez!
We are desperate for an addition in the striker department, considering how there has been a lack of potency up front. While Cristiano Ronaldo has made an impact since his summer move, he has been inconsistent and is not up to his usual best. We need a young prospect who would lead our attack in the long term, which is where Nunez could come in.
It’s not like Marcus Rashford has impressed or something to say that we can depend on him moving forward. Anthony Martial is in the same boat as his loan spell with Sevilla has caused mixed reactions so far. Edinson Cavani is in line to become a free agent after already struggling to make appearances this season- largely due to fitness issues.
That does open up the spot for Nunez to come in and take over the reins in our attack from the next term onwards. The valuation is certainly reasonable for someone widely regarded as one of the best prospects in world football right now. Not to mention, the 22-year-old also has a contract until 2025, making it even more feasible amidst heightened demands.
We need to keep an eye out for both London clubs because of their interest in the South American’s signature. Mikel Arteta’s side had tried their cards to finalise a move in January alongside West Ham United, but they failed to do so as he was not put on the market at that point.
The Blues could pose trouble for us, considering how they have scouted the Benfica ace ahead of a potential summer move. It is not surprising, to say the least, how we are facing stern competition for his services. After all, a man of his talents would probably have many suitors.

But, the board must make sure that we would beat off the competition and finalise a transfer for Nunez this summer. We need to focus our attention on bolstering the squad by using talented prospects who have the desire to succeed in football. He can be one such signing, but it remains to be seen whether we can bring him in or not.
Scoring 31 goals in 36 games across all competitions for Benfica isn’t a joke, after all. He has serious talent. But United would do well to complete their research on their player before parting ways with a significant- if they go ahead with the move, that is.
