Manchester United issues Cristiano Ronaldo injury update as forward returns to training
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to training in what could be an injury boost for the club, after the player missed the clash against Leicester City on the weekend.
The Red Devils were without Ronaldo to lead the line for them against the Foxes in their Premier League fixture, and the team missed him sorely as they fought back to claim a 1-1 draw at home. His club and country teammate Bruno Fernandes slotted in for him in his position but was largely ineffective in the role.
Two crucial points were dropped in the race to finish in the top four of the league table this season, as a lack of goals from the side to find an eventual winner saw the side slip down to seventh place and in danger of missing out on Champions League football next term.
The Portugal skipper was ruled out of the match against Leicester due to illness, with the player pulling out of their training session prior to the game and reporting no change in his condition on the morning of matchday.
Return to Carrington
In good news for the club, he returned to Carrington on Tuesday to join up with his teammates and now looks set to be back involved this weekend as the Manchester side prepares to face Everton at Goodison Park.
The Toffees are currently threatened by relegation as Frank Lampard’s side have been unable to pick up wins of late to fire them up the league table and stay in the top-flight. Heading into the game, the Red Devils are sure to be the favourites to win the battle.
Ronaldo’s involvement against the Toffees will be known for sure when interim manager Ralf Rangick addresses the press in the pre-match conference. Hopefully, the 37-year-old forward will be available to face our opponents on the weekend.
His last goal involvement for the club came in his last Premier League game before the international break, with the ex-Real Madrid man netting a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur in a 3-2 win that sent the home fans into delirium.

If he were to make a comeback on Saturday at Merseyside, then fans will expect him to pick up on his recent league form and continue it against Everton to help us to gain three points to go level with Tottenham Hotspur in fourth place. Spurs will however have a game in hand.
We have been overly reliant on Ronaldo for our goals this campaign, but with Edinson Cavani always injured, Marcus Rashford out of form, Anthony Martial’s loan move to Sevilla, and Mason Greenwood’s suspension, we also have no other option to turn to. Even Fernandes was unable to pick up Ronaldo’s slack against the Foxes last weekend, so it is imperative that we see the former Juventus ace return to the starting lineup.
