Thomas Tuchel addresses links to Manchester United amidst Chelsea uncertainty
Speaking in the pre-match press conference (h/t The Sun), Thomas Tuchel has addressed the links that connected him with a move to Manchester United amidst uncertainty surrounding his future at Chelsea. There have been lots of talks regarding this subject ever since the UK Government sanctioned Roman Abramovich leading to the Blues’ current turmoil.
The West London side cannot sell match-day tickets or merchandise due to the imposed restrictions. Not to mention, they cannot engage in transfer dealings or contract negotiations with several key players nearing the end of their respective deals. These situations eventually resulted in questions over Tuchel’s future which he has cleared out ahead of his team’s FA Cup match against Middlesbrough later today.
The German manager was adamant that he was happy with life at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel even added that he has everything that he needs right now while having multiple reasons to stay put with the Blues.
“I said many times, I love working for Chelsea Football Club. This club has everything here to make me happy. There are plenty of reasons to stay.”
Case closed?
The 48-year-old’s words have firmly put an end to all those talks surrounding a potential departure due to the current volatile environment. It would not have been much of a surprise to see this response as facilitating a move for a coach from our direct rivals would always have been difficult.
The way the former Paris Saint-Germain man has carried himself in these uncertain times is a great sight to see and is a testament to his professionalism. Prising him away from Chelsea would have been a major coup for Man United as he has all the qualities that are required to make a change at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately, that is not the case, and we must move past Tuchel and look elsewhere to meet our needs. This managerial uncertainty must be brought to an end as soon as possible as there is a lot of work to be done to build towards a better project.

For example, there is a clear need to bring in reinforcements in several areas like defensive midfield in the summer transfer window. However, we probably cannot push to an advanced stage with any dealings as our targets would want to know who would be leading the Manchester club from next season onwards.
As such, the board must find a solution at the earliest so that there would be ample time to take care of such matters in the coming months. Now let’s wait and see what lies in store for us regarding our pursuit to sign a new coach.
