Transfer News: Manchester United prepare a bumper contract offer for Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger
According to GiveMeSport (h/t The Express), Manchester United are willing to propose a massive contract offer to Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger to sign him in the 2022 summer transfer window. He is one of the best centre-backs in world football and securing his services would be a major statement on their part.
Rudiger is in the last year of his contract at Stamford Bridge which has seen uncertainty surround his future in Blue. He has a desire to stay with Chelsea, but the restrictions imposed on the club prevents them from engaging in contract negotiations with their players. The situation would remain the same unless a solution regarding the ownership can be found in the coming weeks.
As such, the German is forced to reconsider his options and is “leaning towards” a new adventure after this campaign. The Red Devils are very interested in securing his signature and are ready to offer him a £300,000-a-week contract with the “motive” of increasing competition due to Harry Maguire’s worrying form.
Can Man Utd sign Rudiger?
There are obvious doubts that are going through everyone’s mind at this moment when it comes to the 29-year-old. After all, the central defender is a key player for our Premier League rivals and getting him in the bag would be a challenging task, to say the least. Some would not even entertain such talks unless some drastic developments take place moving forward.
That being said, it seems that the Blues ace is open to entertaining offers from our side since he has already expressed some concerns regarding a potential move. The managerial uncertainty is something he is wary of, so the board must address the issues at the earliest to make a best case for ourselves.
Not to mention, we are behind in the transfer race at this moment, with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid the favourites to facilitate a move. That is because both teams have been able to legally engage in contract talks which is not the case for clubs within England.

If there are plans to go down this route, we must be ready to pounce once the German international’s contract expires this summer. The current proposed offer is an expensive one for sure, but it would also be deserving, considering how he has performed under Thomas Tuchel.
Moreover, we need him to boost the quality in our ranks which the Manchester club plans to do as well. Maguire is not the only issue, as Phil Jones and Eric Bailly should also be replaced with better options if there are plans to challenge for titles. Whether Rudiger can be that man or not remains to be seen.
