Manchester United star Paul Pogba appears ready to leave Old Trafford this summer
Speaking to CMIT TV, journalist Massimo Franchi said that Manchester United star Paul Pogba is dreaming of a move away from the club this summer and has a crazy desire to leave Old Trafford. (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Pogba completed a sensational return to Manchester from Turin in 2016, after initially leaving the club to move to Juventus as a free agent in 2012 as a youngster. Having impressed in his four years in Italy, United bought him back to reinforce their midfield options.
Franchi was critical of the Frenchman, saying that the Red Devils got a version of the star that was different from the one that everyone saw at Juve. The journalist also talked about the midfielder having a crazy desire to leave this summer, wanting a return to the Serie A club.
“Yesterday he was practically a ghost. He seems to be his brother, it is certainly not the Pogba who left Juve. I think the deal is possible, he has a crazy desire, has exhausted the adventure at Manchester and wants to return.”
Pogba was last seen at Old Trafford in the Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid, coming on as a second-half substitute in the game. However, he could not prevent his side from tasting defeat as the Red Devils crashed out of the competition.
“He is tied to the city”
The World Cup winner was a revelation in Italy, winning four consecutive league titles and becoming a household name across the footballing world. He was always known to be a bright talent in Manchester, but Juventus was where he displayed his abilities to everyone.
Franchi said that Pogba has a lot of friends in Turin, and was tied to the city and team. However, if Juventus make a move for him, then it would only be a good transfer if the version at Turin from 2012 returns.
“He has many friends, he is tied to the city, to the team, to the environment. It would be a successful purchase if the one you admired at Juventus returns.”
Franchi is right in saying that the Pogba that Old Trafford welcomed back was not the one that left Turin, with the player not being as successful in terms of trophies won in Manchester. So far, he has only won a League Cup and Europa League during his second spell at United.
Known to be a player who has a lot of fancy tricks and flicks in his locker, the player has had his moments in a red shirt in the middle of the park. However, he has also been a source of frustration for some fans as he is prone to giving away the ball under pressure because of the same tricks that he tries to pull off.

The player is nearing the end of his current deal at the club, set to become a free agent in the summer. If Juventus do plan on signing him once again, then it will be a case of deja vu for United fans, with memories of 2012 popping up again.
Only time will tell if Pogba stays at the club beyond the summer, but if he does not, then not many fans would feel upset by his departure. However, we are a better team with Pogba in it, so for the sake of the club, his stay would be beneficial.
