Leicester City star Youri Tielemans keeping future options open amidst Manchester United interest
Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is keeping his options regarding his future open at this moment amidst interest from Manchester United. He has been linked with an exit in the upcoming 2022 summer transfer window, which could potentially pave the way for the Red Devils to try and land him.
Tielemans will enter the final year of his current contract at the end of this season. Man United are monitoring his situation right now with Arsenal and several other Premier League clubs also vying to secure his signature. If a departure seems to be likely this summer, Leicester could be influenced to part ways with him for a fee of £50million.
Speaking in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad (h/t The Sun), the Belgian has conveyed that he is unconcerned about his future at this moment. The midfielder has added that a decision will be made after this campaign by looking at all the choices available to him for the next term.
“I am very calm about my future. My contract runs out in 2023. During the summer I will take a look at all my options and take a decision. It is not the case that I want to leave at all costs. I still haven’t made up my mind. If I am to stay put for another year, then I will do so with pleasure.”
Should Man Utd sign Tielemans?
The 24-year-old is one of the highly-rated midfielders in his position and could be a great addition to the Manchester club’s squad. While he has had a subdued season this time around, much of that is also due to the Foxes’ own poor campaign, which has affected their entire team.
Despite that, the Premier League ace has seven goals and three assists to his name this term from 35 appearances across all competitions. That is a great return for a central midfielder, and he could be a valuable reinforcement for our squad looking at the current state of things.
Paul Pogba is in line to see his current contract expire in the summer transfer window. He could leave Old Trafford as a result, and we will need someone with real quality to replace him. Not to mention, we still do not know what lies in store for Donny van de Beek once his loan spell at Everton ends at the end of the season

Moreover, others like Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Scott McTominay have struggled to maintain consistency in this campaign. Tielemans can certainly help us, but it remains to be seen whether we can get him in the bag, especially with the Gunners and other clubs targeting him as well.
That being said, we must negotiate and reduce the current valuation considering how the Foxes midfielder will be available for free after next season.
