Manchester United monitor Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel following Roman Abramovich sanction
According to Daily Mail Online, Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel following the UK Government’s sanction on Roman Abramovich. An ever-growing crisis has unravelled at Stamford Bridge, which has thrown the coach’s future prospects into uncertain waters.
The Blues are unable to sell tickets while they have also been dealt several blows from their sponsors. That has resulted in a severe financial crisis leading to questions arising about Tuchel’s future. Ralf Rangnick has publically expressed that it would not make sense for him to talk about the prospect of signing the Chelsea manager.
However, Rangnick is privately open to the possibility of bringing Tuchel to Old Trafford behind the scenes. Man United’s search for a new boss is at an advanced stage, and the latter could be added to the managerial shortlist because of the recent developments. That being said, Mauricio Pochettino and Etik ten Hag are still the favourites for the Old Trafford job.
Signing Tuchel possible?
There is an obvious roadblock in this case due to Tuchel currently managing one of our bitter rivals. Moreover, one could also argue whether he would dump his current club in their plight to team up with us. After all, that would leave a sour taste with the Blues supporters despite the success he has brought to Stamford Bridge in a short time.
There may be some who point towards Jose Mourinho to make a case that Tuchel could become a real possibility in the future. However, Mourinho’s situation is completely different since he did not directly join us after departing the West London club.
Moreover, the circumstances were a lot different compared to the uncertain and volatile environment within the Champions League holders’ camp at this moment. Then again, it would not hurt us in the slightest by trying our chances to sign Tuchel at the end of this term.
After all, Rangnick has previously worked with Tuchel during their time together at Ulm and Stuttgart. With time running out for the summer transfer window to arrive, the board must put an end to this uncertainty as soon as possible.

After all, signing a manager would not be our only objective as we would also need to back him by adding appropriate transfer targets to the squad. For that to happen, an agreement must be reached before the season ends to prepare ahead for a successful window. Whether Tuchel will be that man or not remains to be seen.
