Manchester United are linked with a move for Shakhtar Donetsk wing-back Vinicius Tobías
According to AS (h/t Sports Witness), Manchester United are being linked to young wing-back Vinicius Tobías. The likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, and arch-nemesis Manchester City are also said to be interested in the Shakhtar Donetsk player.
FIFA has confirmed that players in the Ukrainian Premier League as well as foreigners in the Russian Premier League clubs can leave on a free transfer in an arrangement that would last till the summer. This could be a breather for some of the international players considering the fragility of the current situation.
Tobias signed for the Ukrainian club in January and could be facing a difficult time in view of recent developments. The teenager is also at an impressionable age at the moment and a change in scenery could do him a world of good.
The youngster has made seven appearances with the Brazilian U-16 national squad to date and also managed to bag an assist during that time. Adding a young exciting full-back to their ranks could help future proof the attacking department at Old Trafford.
Manchester United and its wing-backs
The club has been fragile at the back, this campaign, and have struggled to open up opposition defences at the same time. Interim manager Ralf Rangnick is still trying to instil his brand of intense football but the players seem a long way off the pace at the moment.
The likes of Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have also struggled to recreate the form that they showed last season. Whilst Diogo Dalot has been a prominent presence under the German manager, there isn’t a confirmed starter in the right-back position at the moment.
There could be certain complications regarding any move for the young Brazilian wing-back but this could be a good situation for the club as well as the player. The 18-year-old could get the experience of being surrounded by some great players and should he show great potential the club could even try and lure him in.
It is highly unlikely that the Sao-Paulo-born player would disrupt the hierarchy but would most probably play a part in the development team at the Mancunian club or be sent out on loan in an effort to give him some more senior team minutes under his belt.
