Interim manager Ralf Rangnick gives blunt reaction to Manchester United fan’s summer transfer pleas
Interacting with Manchester United fans outside Old Trafford after his side’s 0-0 draw against Watford in the Premier League (h/t Mirror), interim boss Ralf Rangnick had a hilarious and blunt response to a fan who asked him about the club’s rumoured transfer targets in the summer.
Rangnick is currently operating under the role of an interim manager, with the German expected to leave the position in the summer as United look to appoint a new permanent head coach ahead of the new season.
The German was quizzed about the Manchester club signing Jules Kounde of Sevilla, West Ham United’s Declan Rice, and Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland in the summer, but the boss simply waved away these suggestions in a hilarious interaction with the fan.
The fan clearly had his priorities in order, as he pointedly asked the manager about a defender, midfielder, and striker being added to the squad ahead of next season. These are all areas that United could improve upon in the summer, with reinforcements coming in to bolster the squad.
“Who?”
Rice is a player most United fans will have had their eye on at close quarters, given that the midfielder plays in the Premier League. Defender Kounde and striker Haaland are touted to be top transfer targets at the end of the season, although only time will tell if the club will actively pursue these options in the summer.
Rangnick was very blunt in his reply to the fan’s questions of United’s rumoured summer targets, pretending that he had never heard of these players before as he asked the supporter whether he was dreaming about these signings.
“Who? What are you dreaming at night?!”
United are expected to have a busy summer this time around, ushering in a new era with a new permanent manager at the helm. With a new head coach comes the expectation that signings will be made a priority, and as a club that is recognised all over the world, all the best players will be linked to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Our squad could do with additions in all areas, with a midfielder and striker possibly placed on priority. The Red Devils have cried out for a midfield general for years now, while the club need a young gun to lead the line for them up front as the side currently only have 2 strikers in the team who are both above 35 years old.

Rangnick is expected to have a considerable amount of input into United’s transfer business at the end of the season, as the German takes up a consultancy role with the club after giving up his role as interim manager.
The January transfer window did not see any new faces come to Manchester, and so fans will expect the club to go big in the summer to make up for this lack of business in the winter. It is sure to be an exciting time for United fans in the next couple of months, as they continue to be linked to top names around the world.
