Transfer News: Aston Villa enter race to sign Boubacar Kamara amidst Manchester United interest
According to French media outlet But! Football Club (h/t Manchester Evening News), Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Boubacar Kamara amidst interest from Manchester United ahead of a potential summer transfer. He has attracted a host of attention from the Premier League as a result of his consistent performances in Ligue 1.
Man United were heavily linked with a move for Kamara in January. They wanted to strengthen their midfield but there were not any arrivals in the end. United seem to have maintained their interest in Kamara and could try their hand at securing his services at the end of the current season.
However, the Red Devils will now have to face off against Villa to get their hands on the Frenchman. Steven Gerrard’s side has sent scouts to assess the midfielder in the past few weeks ahead of a potential move. Leeds United and Newcastle United are also interested in signing him with the summer transfer window getting closer by the month.
Where will Kamara end up?
The entry of the Lions could prove to be troublesome for us if we dwindle for too long in our pursuit of the 22-year-old midfielder. And so, we would be wise to stay alert and swoop in before other potential suitors can even get a sniff.
Perhaps, missing out on Kamara last month was for the best as we can secure the Marseille ace’s signature on a free in the summer transfer window. With the defensive midfielder “ready to pack his bags” ahead of the end of the season, it seems that Kamara joining a PL club is a likely outcome this summer.
We cannot let this opportunity pass up as the Ligue 1 star can help alleviate the issues in our midfield to an extent. We do lack a quality, young backup option in our squad to play in the double pivot. Nemanja Matic is an option, but he is well past his prime and cannot be counted on every single game.
Fred and Scott McTominay can play in a similar position but Kamara, a young and solid defensive midfielder, would certainly bring steel to this United team. The 22-year-old can even play as a central defender if and when needed, which is certainly a bonus for any team he plays for.

Leeds and Newcastle need to be kept an eye on alongside Gerrard’s side so let’s hope that the board can pull this move off. This is a name we have heard regularly in recent months and it would certainly be a shame if we miss out on him to another PL club after being linked with him recently.
