Twitter Reaction: Manchester United fans react to thrilling 4-2 win over Leeds United
Taking to their Twitter account, Manchester United fans celebrated their hard-fought yet thrilling win over bitter rivals Leeds United as the Red Devils smashed four goals against the home side in a game that ended 4-2 in favour of the visitors.
United went into the half-time break two goals up, but were quickly pegged back by a blistering Leeds attack that brought parity to the scoreline in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. Rodrigo and Raphinha scored two goals in under a minute to give the home side hope, but it would not last until full-time.
Interim manager Ralf Rangnick rang the changes a little after the hour mark, bringing on Fred and Anthony Elanga, and it was the substitutes who made all the difference as the duo netted late on to hand United all 3 points at Elland Road.
This result puts United firmly in fourth spot, four points clear of West Ham United. The Manchester club came to Elland Road on the back of a 2-0 home win against Brighton & Hove Albion, and Rangnick will be pleased about the side keeping up their winning run.
Thrilling win
Club captain Harry Maguire gave United the lead in the first half, heading in from a corner as the Old Trafford side scored their first goal from a corner all season long. The side failed to find the back of the net from a corner all of last year in the current campaign, but Maguire put that damning stat to rest.
Bruno Fernandes then headed in a goal right before half-time, allowing United some breathing space ahead of the second half, in what was a wet and slippery game throughout due to the storm affecting England at the moment.
United are in action next against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, heading to Spain to play the away leg midweek. All eyes will be on Atletico’s enemy Cristiano Ronaldo to see if the Portuguese superstar continues his excellent form against the La Liga champions.
