The latest team news as Manchester United prece arch-rivals Leeds United
According to the club’s official website, the latest team news for Manchester United and Leeds United have been released ahead of their clash in the Premier League. The match will take place tomorrow at Elland Road as two bitter rivals take on each other in a crucial fixture considering their respective circumstances.
The Red Devils have a couple of injury concerns coming into this match but are boosted by several returnees to the squad. Edinson Cavani is still out of contention due to groin and stomach issues despite being a part of training sessions. Tom Heaton will also join him on the sidelines, but Raphael Varane is available for selection after recovering from illness.
Nemanja Matic was involved during training and could join his teammates for the matchday squad. Ralf Rangnick has revealed that the rest of the team seems to be ready for the match. That could mean Eric Bailly has returned to full fitness ahead of the crunch Premier League clash.
Meanwhile, Leeds have been plagued by injuries throughout this season and this has had a severe impact on their results. That has caused their performances to dwindle, which would be of help coming into this match. Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford, Liam Cooper, Leo Fuhr Hjelde and Sam Greenwood would certainly miss the fixture.
Junior Firpo’s return would be a boost for them, whereas Stuart Dallas is not ruled out just yet. Former Man United ace Daniel James is available and would be looking to get the better of his previous club.
Continue the momentum!
Having won the previous game against Brighton and Hove Albion by a 2-0 scoreline, we must carry forward the momentum gained following that fixture. That could provide us with enough of a push to gain a foothold in the race to finish in the top four places by the end of the season.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have three games in hand over us at this instant, so we cannot afford to slip up and give them the chance to close the gap. West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers cannot be taken lightly either as they are mounting a challenge to get into the European places.
Varane has adapted to his new surroundings since the summer move and would certainly be a commanding presence in the backline. The potential availability of Matic would provide us with an opportunity to keep the squad fresh depending on how the game develops tomorrow. Bailly would also do the same, although there are more than enough options ahead of him right now.

That being said, it is concerning how Cavani’s season has turned out and how he has not been available for selection for quite a while. Heaton would not be missed much either due to the presence of David De Gea and Dean Henderson.
Despite their poor form in recent matches, Marcelo Bielsa’s side cannot be taken for granted in any case. They have troubled opponents high above their weight this season which should be enough of a warning to be on our toes. As such, the Manchester club should be switched on for 90 minutes, unlike what has happened in the past few games.
