Manchester United dealt blow as Palmeiras plan to put massive release clause on Endrick
According to Brazilian news outlet Lance (h/t AS in English), Palmeiras are plotting to hold off interest from clubs like Manchester United for Endrick by installing a massive release clause in his contract. He is being touted as the next big superstar from Brazil, and expectations are for him to follow in the footsteps of Neymar and Vinicius Junior.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester City are also keeping tabs on the situation, which has prompted the South American club to take this action. They have identified this as an opportunity to take advantage of and are looking to get the maximum financial benefit through a €100 million release clause.
The Brazilian club wants to keep the 15-year-old as long as possible, but it seems to be only a matter of time before he leaves for Europe. Real are currently leading the race, so Man United would need to raise their efforts if they are actively interested in prising him away before others.
What’s next?
The Brazilian still has not earned a professional contract due to the age limitations but he is in line to get one next summer when he turns 16. Moreover, he cannot go abroad until he turns 18, which further complicates the current situation for us. If the release clause is installed when he receives his new deal, it would be a big issue for us in our pursuit to sign the wonderkid.
The amount specified above is unreasonable at any cost for a player who has not even made a mark professionally. While the teenager is playing at a very high level at this moment in the youth set-ups, it is never a guarantee that he can attain his full potential.
At the same time, Verdao could simply be slapping this huge clause so they have a large margin during negotiations for a potential move. After all, that is an astonishingly large sum that many clubs would think twice before meeting, no matter who the player in question is.
To put things into context, we sold Cristiano Ronaldo during the peak years of his career to Real Madrid for €94million, even if that was 12 and a half years ago.
In any case, we have to try our best and reach an agreement with the Brazilian side at the earliest since the youngster has shown signs that he could be a future superstar. He is getting compared to Ronaldo Nazario, and his 165 goals in 169 matches certainly live up to those claims.

Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho, and Marcus Rashford are all very young and will be the face of our team’s attack in the future. With players such as Endrick, it’s always the case of ‘the more, the merrier’, and it remains to be seen if we can jostle some of Europe’s top clubs for quite arguably one of the most highly-rated teenagers in South America at this very moment.
