‘Optimistic’ PL rivals return with second loan offer for 29-year-old Manchester United star

Newcastle United are interested in signing Manchester United star Jesse Lingard on loan.

Newcastle United bid second loan offer for Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard

According to Daily Mail Online, Newcastle United have bid a second loan offer to sign Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard in the January transfer window. He has largely been sidelined by Ralf Rangnick and could head out this month in search of more game time.

Lingard has entered the final six months of his contract, which has forced Man United to decide that they would try and sell him this month. The forward is interested in a move to join up with Newcastle, but he has no plans for a permanent transfer. That has put them in a complicated situation with not many days left before the deadline date.

The Magpies have put in a second loan bid after their initial one was rejected on Wednesday. However, there is still a belief that the player may well stay at Old Trafford beyond the winter window.

Despite the difficulties they are facing at this instant, the Toons are “optimistic” about facilitating a move in the coming days. They would need to put in an irrefutable loan offer to sway both the Manchester club and the England international with just around 10 days left in the January window.

What next for Lingard?

It makes sense why we would want to offload him permanently. His contract expires in the summer and if he doesn’t renew his deal, this would perhaps be the last chance for us to get any form of a transfer fee for him.

We also cannot blame the Man United attacker as the risk of relegation is enough of a reason to justify his decision. Howe’s team are in a terrible condition, plus signings do not always guarantee success since time is required for the squad to gel and the ideas to be instilled within the team.

With the recent rise of Anthony Elanga, we have all the more reason to shift deadweight without worrying about the lack of necessary depth. So, it would be wise on the Glazers’ part to rethink their strategy as they can cut costs by sending out the Englishman at this moment. After all, offloading him in January- even if it is temporary- would get him off our books to some extent.

Lingard would also know the FIFA World Cup is also not too far away. His excellent form at West Ham United almost got him into the Three Lions squad for the Euros last summer, so a similar stint elsewhere may help him make the last cut this time around.

But for him to move away this month, it seems that a lot would have to change between Man United, Newcastle, and the player’s stance. And with not long left until deadline day, it remains to be seen what happens.
