Ralf Rangnick backs Manchester United star Paul Pogba to rediscover his best form ahead of potential summer exit
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has backed Paul Pogba to return to his best form in the second half of the season.
The Frenchman has been out of action for some time now and his dynamism in midfield was sorely missed. he returned to training on Monday and is now in contention to return to action after this month’s international break.
A Pogba in full flow is something brilliant to behold and Rangnick believes we will get to see more of that in the upcoming months. The Man United boss believes that the player will be motivated to perform, even if it is for his own ulterior motives.
The 28-year-old is currently in the final few months of his contract and could potentially leave the club on a free next summer. Negotiations regarding an extension have gotten nowhere and the Red Devils now find themselves in a tough spot.
Pogba holds the cards now and he could aim to use the remaining games this season as an audition of sorts to impress potential suitors. Rangnick believes that will be the case in a rather candid admission ahead of the game against Brentford.
“He wants to show the fans of Manchester United, the board, the whole world what kind of player he can be, and even if it’s for only showing up for a new contract elsewhere, I mean, he will be highly motivated to do that.”
The Man United boss admitted that he has no issues in playing players whose contracts expire in the summer as long as they give their best on the field. While we may end up parting ways with them eventually, there is no reason why the club should not squeeze out every last bit of football they can offer until then.
“If they handle that in a professional way, in an ambitious way, of course I can and I will play players although they have a contract expiring in the summer.”
Pogba started off the season well but lost his way midway through the campaign. There is no better time than now for him to return to action and add ammo to a side reeling from a lack of inspiration. He might as well end his second stint at Old Trafford on a high.

Rangnick’s blunt admission may not be the best thing to hear but it is also an unflinchingly honest comment that we cannot ignore. Players come and go but as long as they don out colours, they have to give nothing but their best. Pogba is no different and will need to step up and perform in the upcoming months.
