Manchester United ready to offer a huge salary to Barcelona star Ronald Araujo
According to transfer news from Spanish publication SPORT (h/t The faithful MUFC), Manchester United are preparing to offer handsome wages to outdo Barcelona and land their young defender, Ronald Araujo.
Ronald Araújo gained promotion from Barcelona B side in 2020 and has been spectacular for the senior team since then. The Uruguayan has shown exceptional growth and currently meets all criteria of a top-notch defender. Furthermore, the centre-back has also scored two game-saving equalizers for the Catalan team in La Liga this season.
Despite being the first choice partner of Gerard Piqué in the current Barcelona team, Araújo is currently on pretty low wages compared to the other key players of the squad. Despite having only 16 months left in his current contract, the 22-year-old hasn’t yet signed a renewal deal, and this could be a suggestion that he is open to a better offer.
If that’s the case, then Manchester United have shown an interest in providing him with a lucrative contract that would be out of reach from cash-strapped Barcelona. It is believed that the Red Devils board already got in touch with the Blaugrana defender and also planning to offer a ‘good’ transfer fee.
According to El Nacional, Manchester United have to make an offer in the region of 45 million euros (£37.5million) to make Barcelona interested in the transfer.
Manchester United already had Harry Maguire, the most expensive defender in the world. In the summer window, Red Devils also signed Raphaël Varane, one of the best defenders of the past 5-6 years. However, United managers haven’t been able to put the parts together and make the system work.

As United defender Eric Bailly has been linked with an exit move, the choices can further decrease in the coming season.
Therefore, by signing Araujo, we would get a quality centre back who is still young and have the ability to reach greater heights. As Barcelona is still struggling to cope with the financial problems, we could have the advantage of striker an agreement for a lumpsum price.
