Manchester United target Erling Haaland will decide his future soon following Borussia Dortmund pressure

Manchester United target Erling Haaland has conveyed that Borussia Dortmund have been putting pressure on him to decide over his future prospects. He has attracted attention from several clubs across Europe as a result of the release clause in his contract, which will come to play at the end of this season.

The 21-year-old will see his current contract with Dortmund end in June 2024 and has a release clause worth £66million in his deal. And this has seen Manchester City enter the mix to try and sign him alongside Man United. Real Madrid, however, are leading the race for now, dealing a blow to both Manchester clubs.

Speaking in the post-match interview with Viasport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Haaland expressed that the Bundesliga club has recently pressured him into making a decision over his future despite him wanting to focus on football for now. He added that an outcome would shortly be known since they want to know what lies next in store regarding the Norwegian’s future.

Man United target Haaland reveals pressure from Dortmund over future prospects.
Erling Haaland has been linked with Manchester United.

“Well, the last six months I have chosen not to say anything out of respect for Dortmund, but now the club has started to press me into making a decision, but all I want to do, is play football. So that means I have to make a decision soon.”

Man Utd- pay attention!

Since we have now had direct confirmation from the player himself that a decision will be made soon, the club has to make their stance clear and make themselves an option for the ex-Molde man to choose from. We cannot let this opportunity go by, considering the Norway international is clearly one of the best strikers in Europe right now- and at his age, he may only get better.

He has featured in 77 games across all competitions and has scored 78 goals while assisting 21 times in the process since moving to Germany in 2020. He would clearly be a long-term prospect for us while also potentially offering short-term success based on the current attacking output.

Cristiano Ronaldo does eventually need to be replaced whereas Edinson Cavani will become a free agent this summer if he does not renew his contract. We do have Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood in our squad, but Rashford has not yet recovered his form, while both of them do not hold a candle to the Bundesliga star when it comes strictly to goal involvements right now.

The downside is that we would have to deal with Mino Raiola, who is the Norway international’s agent. He has had a complicated relationship with us by being on the wrong side of the fans due to his involvement with Paul Pogba. Despite that, we should try to reach common ground as Haaland is one of the rare gems of this current generation.

There would be obstacles to any big signing a club makes. The fee, wages, agent, and other similar things are all factors to take into consideration. But it is on the club to show that they mean business and get the deal done. Haaland truly is a difference-maker, a player who can bring trophies to Old Trafford on his own if signed.
