Juventus still show interest to sign Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial in January transfer window

According to the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport [Print Edition] via Inside Football (h/t Manchester Evening News), Juventus are still showing interest in signing Manchester United attacker Anthony Martial in the January transfer window. The forward has already expressed that he wants to leave Old Trafford in search of more game time.

Man United have rejected a loan offer from Sevilla for Martial’s services despite his demands to leave the club. Meanwhile, he seems to be holding out to wait for an attempt from Barcelona. Juve are assessing their options to bring in reinforcements to their attack and have maintained their interest as a result.

The Serie A club has seen their need to bring in attacking signings rise due to the recent setbacks within the team. Federico Chiesa has torn his ACL and is set to be out for the rest of the season. Paulo Dybala is expected to leave Allianz Stadium following disputes between the club over the contract terms.

Martial to leave Man Utd in January?

The Manchester club would want to receive an offer for the 26-year-old at the earliest so that they can use that money to meet their own needs. There is no reason for us to keep him when he clearly has doubts about playing in the Red Devils shirt. As such, it would be wise on the club’s part to get rid of him as soon as possible to prevent the occurrence of unrest.

At the same time, it is no guarantee that the Bianconeri would put an offer on the table this month even though they need additions in the attack. Therefore, we must be wary about playing too much of a hard game as it could, in turn, affect our chances of getting the Frenchman off the wage bill.

It would be smart of us if we can get the Serie A giants to pay all of his salary- or at least a big portion of it. Getting a loan fee in the process would be a bonus too, but it is important that we are compensated financially for losing an attacker in the prime physical years of his career.

Since we have an abundant availability of options in the frontline, there is no need for us to worry about the potential departure of the French star. Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo are probably the main starters in the striker’s role, whereas Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood would act as an understudy for now.

Then there is Jadon Sancho, who has featured in a similar position this season, while the upcoming Anthony Elanga is also a good shout. Since we are nearly at the halfway point of the winter transfer window, it remains to be seen if we could offload the fringe Red Devils forward before the market closes.

It’s better to get rid now rather than keep dragging this situation for a longer period. It would also free up space in the squad so we can potentially look for an upgrade- if that’s what the board decides to do in the event of Martial leaving.
