Transfer News: Manchester United handed promising update regarding Paulo Dybala
According to TyC (h/t ESPN), Manchester United have received a major transfer update on Paulo Dybala following the decision from Juventus on his current contract. It could potentially pave the way for the Red Devils to make their move for the South American sensation.
Dybala looks set to become a free agent at the end of this campaign and can reach a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in the January transfer window. He is willing to listen to offers this month after deciding to leave Allianz Stadium as a result of Juve’s decision to change the terms surrounding an extension.
The 28-year-old was engaged in contract talks with the Serie A club since 2020, and an agreement was in place before the club altered its stance. That apparent poor show of faith has caused Dybala to look elsewhere with Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur also previously having shown interest. He is expected to earn a lot of attention in the coming days, which could potentially lead to a transfer saga in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Dybala to Old Trafford?
Whether we would reignite our interest in signing the Argentinian or not will only be known in due time. At the same time, we should only try to pursue the attacker if Ralf Rangnick believes he would suit the formation and style that is currently being implemented.
The prospect of signing the Juve attacker for a cut-price deal in January is exciting to think about. But bringing in players who do not suit the team would only harm us in the future. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is an example as it was clear that he is a defensively-minded fullback but got often used in the attacking play with little joy.
That’s not all, as the Bianconeri superstar failed to form a prolific partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo during the latter’s time in Turin. So it would not be unwise to create a similar scenario at Old Trafford when we already have much to already iron out. Dybala also appears to be a poor fit for Rangnick’s patented 4-2-2-2 formation.

Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are the next crops of players who are bound to take over from Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani in the future. Dybala’s talent is unquestioned but his arrival could hamper the progress of those already at the club.
Football has shown us time and time again that simply signing world-class players does not guarantee success. The time has already passed for the board to make reasonable decisions, so they should try to turn the tides and get this club back to where it belongs. Let’s hope that they do not jump the gun on the Argentine international’s availability and make the wrong choice regarding the subject.
