Transfer News: Manchester United set to launch offer for Porto star Luis Diaz amidst interest from Liverpool
According to the transfer news section from Portuguese newspaper A Bola (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are ready to make a massive offer for Porto ace Luis Diaz amidst interest from Liverpool.
The Colombian ace has gone from strength to strength in the past couple of years at the Portuguese club. Since joining in 2019, the highly-rated winger has made 122 appearances for the club and has scored 40 goals and provided a further 19 assists in the process.
Liverpool are keen on the player, with Jurgen Klopp looking to bring in reinforcements to the Merseyside club. However, Man United are also in the race to sign the Porto star and are apparently ready to launch a massive offer to secure his services.
The joint-top scorer at the 2021 Copa America has a £67million release clause. The Portuguese Primeira club have little chance of holding on to him if a club is ready to pay that amount, despite them wanting otherwiise.
Luis Diaz would be a welcome signing
The versatile attacker could add a lot of quality at Old Trafford, given the current situation of the frontline. Apart from Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes, every other attack looks off the paces at Man United.
Few of them are still adjusting to the methods and tactics of Ralf Rangnick, while the others could leave soon. Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard are coming to the end of their respective contracts and could part ways with the club in the summer. Anthony Martial has already informed the club that he wants to leave this month.
Moreover, with Ronaldo also turning 37 next month, adding Diaz, who can play as a striker and a winger, could prove to be really helpful. There could also be increased competition within the ranks if the Colombian international is brought into the side mid-season.

There is a lot to admire about the 24-year-old and much to get excited about. There would be reservations about him finding success in a new country and league, but he could actually take his game to the next level alongside some of the best stars in world football. It would also please our fans if we beat Liverpool to the signing of a potential world-beater.
