Speaking on The United Stand, as quoted by The Express, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo is not keen on quitting Manchester United despite recent transfer links.
The 36-year-old arrived with a lot of pomp at Old Trafford this summer. He was expected to propel us to glory under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but it has ended up in the Norwegian being sacked. However, Ronaldo did his all to save the manager’s job, quite notably by bailing the team out on countless occasions.
The situation under Ralf Rangnick has not been the best, with the Portuguese international often cutting a frustrated figure due to the
lack of service and poor performances. It was also recently claimed that he could leave Man United, with Jorge Mendes apparently ready to offer him to Barcelona. Links to PSG also intensified, since Kylian Mbappe is likely to leave soon. There were also concerns after the veteran was absent from the squad that faced Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Monday. However, Rangnick revealed that it was just a minor muscle issue. In fact, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the club legend is not thinking of quitting anytime soon since it is not ‘his style’ to leave on such a low.
He may be frustrated and annoyed, while one would also not rule out the centre-forward shouting in the dressing room. But Ronaldo is one of the most professional footballers to grace the game, and he is unlikely to abandon a club during chaotic times.
His departure from Juventus was sudden, but there was never any bad blood there. Even at Real Madrid, he delivered the 3rd consecutive UCL title before calling it quits at the Spanish capital. Thus, he was never going to quit on us so easily.
He has led the line brilliantly this season and might be able to see that there is a future project here. The appointment of a permanent manager in the summer could get things back on track, and the Portuguese international might be the hero in world football again.
But the centre-forward would be well-aware of the current situation and shall strive to achieve our goals for the season under Rangnick. He may have been absent for the Monday night victory, but supporters would be hoping to see him face the Steven Gerrard-led side again on Saturday in the Premier League fixture.
Even the great CR7 cannot keep playing on forever. So we can rest assured that the soon-to-be 37-year-old legend would be eager to taste success this season itself and do everything in his reach to enter summer with at least one winner’s medal around his neck.
