Transfer News: Manchester United could seal cut-price January move for Borussia Monchengladbach ace Denis Zakaria
According to transfer news from Calciomercato journalist Rudy Galetti, Manchester United are in talks over sealing a move in January for Borussia Monchengladbach ace Denis Zakaria.
The Red Devils have made a sound investment in the transfer window over the last couple of years. The acquisition of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane was incredible business, but they failed to make additions in the midfield line.
In fact, Man United have not made an addition to the central midfield since signing Fred in 2018. Thus, signing a player in that area is of the utmost importance and the club are now making strides to secure a deal for the same.
The 13-time Premier League champions are holding talks with Borussia Monchengladbach over a deal for Denis Zakaria in January. The bustling box-to-box player is out of contract in the summer, and the Old Trafford outfit are hopeful of sealing a cut-price move for him this month. Gladbach are apparently willing to accept just over €10million for the 25-year-old.

It would be incredible to sign a talent like Zakaria for such a low fee. The former BSC Young Boys star is on the brink of his professional peak and has arguably been one of the best midfielders in the Bundesliga in recent seasons.
Moreover, he has also established himself as a Swiss international and is often starting crucial games for them. He played a crucial part in the nation’s road to the UEFA Euro quarter-final last summer. Thus, this is somebody ready to burst on a bigger stage, and Man United can offer him that platform.
In fact, he could also add some fresh energy into the ranks. We are fighting for a place in the Top 4 while our Champions League ambitions are still intact. Additionally, there are several uncertainties in our midfield zone, and few could leave the club soon.

Paul Pogba might depart as a free agent in the summer. Nemanja Matic also has 18 months left on his contract, while Donny van de Beek is continuing to assess options of leaving the club. Thus, it is key to add a player that can bring a calm presence and solidify our future midfield options. Zakaria is capable of living up to the billing, and Man United would be wise to seal a deal for him as soon as possible.
