Transfer News: Manchester United loanee Axel Tuanzebe set to complete medical and join Napoli soon
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United loanee Axel Tuanzebe will join Napoli soon after the club reached an agreement for his loan deal.
The 24-year-old has moved from strength to strength at Old Trafford and sealed a loan move to Aston Villa in the summer. He was a part of the first-team plans during the opening weeks but has only made two appearances since the appointment of Steven Gerrard.
Napoli were eyeing a move for the centre-back, and it looks like the Italian club has now struck a deal with Man United for the same. It has been agreed between the two clubs that the defender shall join them soon following a medical in Italy.
The Red Devils will receive £500k as a loan fee for his services. Additionally, it is understood that there is no ‘buy option’ included in the deal, which means that he shall return to Old Trafford once his loan contract expires.
Good deal?
It looks like Man United have done some good business here, especially since the English international has not played a lot of football in the past month. Napoli are a top club in Italy and are fighting to win the Serie A this season.
Ex-Chelsea stars Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham have already shown the pathway for young English stars to succeed in the country, and Tuanzebe could be the next man on the list. Moreover, it is a league that has honed defensive talents well in the past.
Axel Tuanzebe will join Napoli, deal agreed and completed since yesterday. Paperworks now to be signed then medical will take place in Italy – Manchester United have accepted €500k loan fee until June. 🤝🏴 #Napoli #MUFC

Additionally, the Old Trafford outfit has few defenders below the age of 25. Besides Teden Mengi in the U-23s, we are lacking a young defender that could form part of our backline in the coming years. Valuable experience under Luciano Spalleti in Naples could just about be enough for the Man United loanee to form a part of our first team in the next couple of seasons.

It has also been a financially profitable deal since we have garnered a loan fee for him. And with no buy option in the deal, it is a certainty that the player shall return to the Theatre of Dreams once his time is over in Italy. All in all, this move benefits the club and the player.
As for the Villans, it seemed like he wasn’t in their plans. It was going to be tough to get into a team with Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings in defence and it remains to be seen where Tuanzebe slots in Napoli’s backline- one which has the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Amir Rrahmani, and Juan Jesus.
