Player News: Manchester United academy prospect Anthony Elanga signs new contract until 2026
According to the club’s official website, academy prospect Anthony Elanga has signed a new contract with Manchester United, thereby extending his stay until June 2026. He is one of the highly-rated youngsters coming up through the academy, and his extension would be a boost for the club, especially with the long-term picture in mind.
The 19-year-old also has the option to trigger an extension for another year in his deal if he opts for it. He joined the academy at the age of 12 and has gone on to make five first-team appearances while scoring once in the process. He netted his only first-team goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers last season when the team won 2-1 on the day.
Speaking to the club’s official media (h/t Manchester United official website), Elanga expressed that playing while donning the Red Devils shirt is his ultimate goal, and the new contract is an essential step to achieving it. The youngster added that he has the perfect environment to be successful and has thanked the club for it.
“My ultimate ambition has always been to play for Manchester United. The standard is extremely high, but this contract is another important moment in my journey. This is the perfect environment to take the next step, with world-class players and coaches to learn from every day. I am overjoyed that the Club has shown such faith in my development, and I want to thank my family and all of the staff for their ongoing support. I know that with hard-work and dedication comes opportunity at this special club and I cannot wait to continue my progress here. Glory to God always.”
Important milestone
It is a very crucial milestone as Man United have made sure that the long-term success is not being overlooked. The Swedish forward could quite possibly be close to making the jump to the first team. He has been sensational in the youth setup, having scored five goals alongside three assists from ten matches across all competitions.
One of the key ingredients to have in a top squad is having players that want to play for the badge in the front rather than the name on the back. They would play a key role in ensuring that we rise to the top once again.
Fresh blood would always bring the much-needed drive and ambition to succeed into the team, and the United academy attacker would do the same. Anthony Martial has made it clear that he wants to leave, which could open up a place for the Swedish youngster.

We must build our future around those who want to help the club with all their effort moving forward. Hence, it is great to see that the club has trusted one of the upcoming stars, thereby showing their intent to the supporters.
Elanga would remind fans of Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford when the Englishmen were just making their breakthrough in the first team. If he goes onto become a first-team player like them, we would have a real talent on our hands.
