Transfer News: Ralf Rangnick held talks with Alf-Inge, father of Erling Haaland for a move to Manchester United

According to Manchester Evening NewsRalf Rangnick has held talks with Alf-Inge Haaland, the father of Erling Haaland, to discuss a potential move to Manchester United in the future. The latter is one of the most prolific strikers in world football currently and has several suitors lined up for him.

Rangnick is interested in bringing Haaland to Old Trafford and is putting pressure for a transfer to be facilitated. Qualifying for the Champions League would be a valuable attraction, and in a way, a necessary one to convince him to move to the Manchester club. The Red Devils had previously tried to sign him two years ago, but it never came to fruition.

The German manager has a good relationship with Alf-Inge after being involved in the transfer that saw the Norwegian move from Molde to RB Salzburg. That could give Man United an edge over their rivals, but the meeting was done for just enquiring about the possibility.

The 21-year-old has a release clause worth €75million in his contract that gets activated in 2022. It is increasingly likely that he would leave Borussia Dortmund, although it is unknown whether a move in the January transfer window could be finalised or not.

Probable?

The Dortmund striker could be a marquee signing who could spearhead the new project that we are building that intends to get us back to the top. Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani do not have many footballing years left in their bags, and the duo could leave a big gap to fill when they depart.

The Bundesliga superstar could bridge that with the quality that he has shown in the past few years. Anthony Martial could also be out next month after his agent revealed that he wants to leave the English club for regular minutes. Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford will not be enough if we hope to return to our glory days because they would require competition and/or backup in the frontline.

The Norway international has been tearing it up for the German side since he transferred from Salzburg. He has an outlandish goal output of 76 goals and 20 assists from 75 appearances throughout his time with the Bundesliga club. That is an absurd amount to have in one’s name as he is scoring at a rate of more than one goal per match.

The sample size is more than enough to make a clear opinion about his quality. Interestingly, he has shown no signs of slowing down, and should we get him in the future, our threat in the forward line would get magnified. Time will tell where he would end up with the release clause soon to get activated.

He is the kind of player that can turn games on its head and win trophies on his own. If we break the bank for Haaland, not many United fans would be against that move and it goes without saying that the Glazers’ approval ratings amongst our fanbase would soar.
