Real Madrid have joined the race for Manchester United target Jules Kounde
As per transfer news El Nacional (h/t Sports Mole), Real Madrid have shown interest in offering a player plus cash deal for Manchester United target Jules Kounde.
Jules Kounde has developed himself into one of the best young defenders in La Liga. The French youngster has been a starter for Julen Lopetegui’s side and has played a decisive role in Los Nervionenses’ recent success. The 23-year-old has already made 21 appearances this season across all competitions.
Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with the French centre back recently. But it is believed that Real Madrid have joined the race.
Sevilla have shown their interest to sign Los Blancos forward Mariano Diaz in recent times. Florentino Pérez’s board are eyeing to take advantage of the interest and want to offer a player plus cash deal for Kounde.
Sevilla wants €60m (£51.2m) plus Mariano Diaz for their star defender. However, Madrid have valued Diaz at €20m (£17.1m). The Los Blancos board is hopeful that Lopetegui’s side can come down to £30m for the cash deal.
Manchester United’s defence hasn’t been very solid this season. Harry Maguire made some horrible mistakes earlier this term. The record signing has failed to live up to the expectations this campaign. Even though Red Devils signed Raphaël Varane to fill the gaps, the French defender was sidelined after suffering an injury. Eric Bailly also has made some severe blunders in this term, which questions the reliability of the Ivorian defender.

Kounde could help resolve defensive problems at United. The young defender would be a solid option for Ralf Rangnick at the back. He has shown his maturity and consistency in La Liga. However, how he adapts to the English Premier League is a big question. But any investment in the youngster would be advantageous for the Red Devils as he proposes a long-term solution.
