Borussia Dortmund provide an update on Manchester United transfer target Erling Haaland
Manchester United transfer target Erling Haaland was seen to wave a goodbye gesture to the fans, which prompted Borussia Dortmund to provide an update on his future. That was following the 3-1 win against Greuther Furth last week, where he walked around the pitch to address the fans.
Manchester City are also interested in Haaland’s services and could pose a threat to the interest of Man United. Several other clubs are also in the race, and he could be a subject of a massive bid war in the coming transfer windows. He is one of the most talented youngsters at the moment, and his ridiculous goal output makes him an exciting potential signing.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Germany (h/t Manchester Evening News), Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc was surprised by the 21-year-old’s actions but was adamant that it had nothing to do with his future. He added how the matter was discussed with the player, and there was no issue within the team either.
“I saw the pictures afterwards too. It looked a bit strange, but I don’t think it was a deliberate action. I spoke to him again briefly, and that’s not an issue in the team either. What is this? I asked him. Nothing at all, he said. That settles the matter.”
Transfer in the works?
BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke also gave an update on the Norwegian’s future when he spoke with BILD (h/t Manchester Evening News). He expressed that the striker could leave the club next year due to the high interest and even named Real Madrid as a serious interest.
“All I know is that Real Madrid are very interested in him. I could name 25 others now, but with Real I know for sure. I am not so sceptical that he will stay with us. Me and Raiola had a good talk not so long ago. We will certainly have another conversation in the next few weeks. If Haaland stays with us, there may be more euros for him.”
If United are serious with their interest, they would have to deal with competition from top European clubs. That means that they should have a good project and opportunity to convince the Dortmund superstar for a potential move. However, since he is a client of Mino Raiola, things could be not so easy for us.

Some departures could be necessary to free up space for his arrival and to ensure that we can convince him that there are opportunities to earn sufficient minutes. That also means we have to address the future of Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard moving forward.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood and, Marcus Rashford are competing for minutes which could create issues to initiate a transfer. Anthony Elanga could also be added into the mix as he is close to making the jump to the first team due to his impressive displays.
