Juventus want Manchester United attacker Edinson Cavani amidst Barcelona and Corinthians interest
According to Italian news outlet Tuttosport (h/t The Sun), Juventus are interested in signing Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani amidst interest from Barcelona and Corinthians for a potential move in the future. It could create a bidding war in the January transfer window should Man United decide to sell him elsewhere.
The 34-year-old is apparently open to leaving Old Trafford to play regular football meaning a move could be on the cards next month. Massimiliano Allegri wants to bring in a reinforcement to help Paulo Dybala in the attack and has eyed the United star as a result. Juve have joined Barca and the Brazilian club in an attempt to secure the services of the Uruguayan.
Cavani initially joined the Manchester-based club in 2020 as a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain. He has quickly become one of the fan favourites and has earned praise from many during his time at Manchester. His work rate to defend from the front alongside his potent attacking abilities has made him a valuable asset at Old Trafford.
Possible departure?
Summer signings like Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, alongside recurring hamstring injuries, have seen the Uruguay international earn fewer minutes as compared to the previous season. As a result, he has played just 274 minutes this campaign with just one goal in his name.
Comparing that to his previous campaign, where he scored 17 times alongside ten assists from 40 appearances, it is clear that the Red Devils ace has had a tough season so far. That could explain the reason why he is looking at options to move elsewhere in the coming transfer windows.
However, the South American did impress alongside Ronaldo when they were paired together up front under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. That was short-lived due to the persistent setbacks that plagued him throughout this term. But there is no reason why we cannot see that tried out under Ralf Rangnick when the forward is fully fit to play a game.
Rangnick has tried out a 4-2-2-2 system at Theatre of Dreams which could facilitate a move for the United striker to get back into the lineup. His work rate can complement the high-pressing style that the German is infamous for at his previous clubs. Not to mention, it would not be wise to thin the squad mid-season, especially if there are no reinforcements.

He would be a great option if he could remain fit as the congested fixture list would ask us to utilise the entire squad. Then there is the issue of the club battling on multiple fronts to challenge for titles. Time will tell what lies in store for the Uruguay superstar as the winter transfer window draws close.
But with PL games getting postponed left and right, with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus wreaking havoc in the UK, nothing can be said for certain when it comes to potentially suspending the league. Amidst such certainty, it will be wise for us if we can hold on to our important senior stars until at least the summer of 2022.
