Bayern Munich intends to replace Robert Lewandowski with Manchester United target Erling Haaland
According to Sportsmole, Bayern Munich are planning to sell Robert Lewandowski to raise funds for Manchester United target Erling Haaland. That is if they fail to meet the contract demands of the Polish star.
Robert Lewandowski has been giving another goal-laden season for Bayern Munich. His massive contribution to Die Roten’s history has made him a superstar in Germany. Thus, his next contract wouldn’t come cheap for the Bundesliga team.
The Polish international is entering the final 18 months of his contract term and hasn’t penned down a new contract. It is believed that the striker intends to stay at Bayern. However, the German team isn’t confident about meeting the high demands that could be made.
In such a case, Julian Nagelsmann’s team has identified Erling Haaland as their top target to replace Lewandowski. It is also believed that if the Bundesliga giants fail to agree with the Poland star’s representative over a renewal deal, they would prefer selling him to raise funds to sign Haaland.
On the other hand, Manchester United have kept their tab on Haaland should an opportunity arrive. However, Bayern has valued Lewandowski at €60m (£51m). If the German team successfully gains such an amount for their star player, they would have the upper hand in negotiations for the Norwegian youngster.
Manchester United hold a suitable mixture of young and old forwards in their ranks. Nevertheless, their goalscoring intent this season has taken a hit. This season, the Red Devils have won several games due to late goals from Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese currently stands top of their scoring chart this campaign.
Midfielder Bruno Fernandes is the second highest scorer with Mason Greenwood coming i9n third. However, interim manager Ralf Rangnick hasn’t shown much support to the English youngster. In comparison, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford have been featuring regularly. Despite getting a lot of game time, both have failed to bag a considerable amount of goals.

Haaland, on the other hand, has been decisive for Dortmund. Even missing several games due to an injury, he has put 13 goals in 10 matches in Bundesliga. The former Molde man could have an immediate impact if he joins United, and his goalscoring record suggests that he wouldn’t have problems converting ha;f chances into goals.
