Manchester United star Jesse Lingard encouraged by the arrival of Ralf Rangnick
According to Manchester Evening News (h/t Express), Manchester United star, Jesse Lingard is encouraged by the arrival of Ralf Rangnick as the club’s interim manager.
The German tactician replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who failed to take the club to the promised land. Man United are, so far, unbeaten under the German and have won both of their Premier League games under his leadership.
Rangnick’s arrival has also given a number of fringe players a new lease of life. Diogo Dalot and Donny van de Beek have both found playing time easier to come by under the 63-year-old.
Another player who has been given hope is Lingard. The English international had played just 267 minutes for Manchester United this season. Of his 12 appearances, just two have come as a starter. Despite starting just once under Rangnick, he appears to have some optimism following the change of guard.
The 28-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract and looks increasingly likely to leave the club for a fee next summer. With the likes of West Ham United and Newcastle United keeping tabs, Lingard does have options should he seek a fresh challenge.
While it looks inevitable that the player will leave Old Trafford, a January exit has been dismissed. This is good news for Man United given that Lingard adds much strength in depth. It could become all the more needed should Anthony Martial depart the club in the new year.
Deja vu?
Rangnick’s arrival clearly appears to have given every player a fresh start. While Lingard did get his opportunity against BSC Young Boys, he failed to particularly stand out. Whether he will be handed more opportunities to shine remains to be seen.
With the 202 FIFA World Cup coming up, Lingard will be keen to have more minutes under his belt in the second half of the season. Having missed out on the England squad for Euro 2020, he will not be too keen to be in the same boat again.

The English international is nowhere near the Red Devils starting XI and could find it difficult to break through given the competition. A nifty player who is also versatile, he clearly deserves better.
