Transfer News: Real Madrid ace Vinicius Junior reveals transfer stance amidst Manchester United interest

Vinicius Junior has revealed his stance surrounding a potential future transfer amidst interest from Manchester United. He has been sensational this season and is looking like the player people believed he would when he first came to Spain. The Brazilian attacker has helped the Spanish club top La Liga while helping them qualify for the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds as group leaders.

Madrid bought the 21-year-old for a fee of €45million back in 2017 and such a fee for a teenager was bound to raise eyebrows, even within Los Galacticos’ fanbase. Initially, he showed promise quite often but lacked the final product. However, this season under the tenure of Carlo Ancellotti, he has become one of their main threats going forward alongside Karim Benzema.

Speaking in an interview with Spanish TV network Movistar (h/t The Mirror), Vinicius sent a message about his future at Santiago Bernabeu by revealing his desire to stay. He was asked to put a price on himself, to which he commented:

“Better not to put any price on me, it is better for me to stay here at Real Madrid.”

A Roadblock

The Brazilian’s comment shuts down any interest from other clubs who may have eyed him. As Man United are one of them, we would have to look elsewhere to add to the squad. He has scored 12 goals alongside seven assists from 22 appearances this season, showing how good he has been during this time.

However, the 4-2-2-2 system used by Ralf Rangnick may need some getting used to. It is a very compact formation used to get the best out of the players available while masking their inefficiencies. But then again, Rangnick is currently set to be the interim manager only until the end of this season and things can change after that.

More Manchester United News

One could question why the Red Devils are after an out-and-out winger again. The club houses two amazing young talents in Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford who have found success out wide. There is also the versatile Jesse Lingard, at least for now, and Anthony Elanga who can play out wide.

And on top of that, we have made two high-profile signings this year in Amad Diallo and Jadon Sancho, with the former already struggling for starts at the club. It is better to channel our attention and money elsewhere such as finding a centre-back or a central midfielder.
