Manchester United fans react as Red Devils pick up a draw against Chelsea
As confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account, Manchester United drew 1-1 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their much-awaited Premier League encounter this Sunday.
There was little hope that we could pull off something brilliant against the league leaders. The Blues had only conceded once from open play this season, and our chances were bleak. Going into the game, there were a lot of raised eyebrows as Cristiano Ronaldo was benched by Michael Carrick.
However, half an hour into the match and it started to make sense why the Portuguese was not starting. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho were pressing from the front as Bruno Fernandes ran the hard yards as well. Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, and Fred formed a decent midfield three.
Man United settle for a draw at Stamford Bridge?
The first half ended all square, but David de Gea was the hero again as he had made 2 world-class saves, once from close range against Callum Hudson-Odoi and the other a piledriver by Antonio Rudiger. Our men started the second half on the front foot and with a lot of enthusiasm.
It paid off eventually when Chelsea squandered the ball from a corner, and Bruno Fernandes hit it long. Jorginho was the only man at the back and failed to bring the ball in his control. Sancho pounced, and he had Rashford alongside- not that he needed him.
He cleverly shimmied Edouard Mendy before putting the ball in the back of the net and running towards the small herd of United fans in the away end. The league leaders reacted immediately, gaining a hold of the ball. However, our backline was well-drilled until yet a corner changed the game.
The ball was ping-ponging off several players before Thiago Silva was tripped by Aaron wan-Bissaka in the penalty box. Jorginho redeemed himself by scoring the equalizer. United tried and pressed in the final moments while the Blues also had some glorious chances.
The game ended 1-1, and while it may not have been a fairy tale first game in the Premier League for Carrick, he would be proud of the boys. Let us now see how some fans reacted on Twitter to our team picking up a point at the home of the league leaders.

De Beek – Mctominay – Fernandes

Sancho – Ronaldo – Rashford
The big european teams don't play with two defensive midfielders. Only united insists on this idiocy. Mainly because the team concedes goals every game. The pair doesn't work.
Fred and McTominay no more. No game has ever convinced me more than today. They’ve become undroppable to the point where they play with zero urgency

Sancho deserve to play 90' minutes instead of Fred. 🥵 pic.twitter.com/D0oXDipPEC
