Eric Bailly cautiously optimistic about the future at Manchester United ahead of Chelsea clash
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United star Eric Bailly has opened up on the situation at the club following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking.
The Norwegian was sacked earlier in the week following a run of poor results that culminated in a 4-1 loss to Watford at Vicarage Road. The post-Ole era got off to a great start as caretaker manager Michael Carrick led the club to a 2-0 away win vs Villarreal.
Bailey admits that it has been a tough few weeks for the squad but all that is now in the past. With the game against Chelsea to take place today evening, there is little time for us to dawdle on what happened.
“We lost important games but that is the past. Now for me, it’s very important to focus on the future.”
Since we cannot change what had happened in the past, it is imperative that the club seeks to have a better tomorrow. With Chelsea up next, Man United have the opportunity to make a statement against the current league leaders.
Bailey appears to understand the need to keep the momentum going. He seems keen to help the Red Devils defeat Chelsea to keep the morale high among the fans. It is also fair to assume that soon-to-be interim boss, Ralf Rangnick, will also be watching.
“Sunday, we have to keep thinking in the future and give back this good feeling and good vibe for the fans. Win the game and take points: it’s very important.”
The 27-year-old also attests to the fact that the team spirit is high at the club at the moment. Winning certainly helps and it was essential that we took all three points against Villarreal.
The season is, however, long and there is still much to be played for. There appears to be a good feeling around the squad now and much will be needed from them on the field to turn around our fortunes.
‘”We’ve trained well and we have a good feeling. I help give my team-mates energy and that’s very important for us.”

Thankfully it would appear that the required effort is being put into training sessions. After all, the more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war. It will be nothing less than a battle against Chelsea tonight. A new dawn is set to over at Man United and only time will tell how the club fares in the months to come.
As for the Ivorian, there is no doubt that he still has a role to play in United’s squad despite not being a first-choice centre-back for a while. Raphael Varane’s recent injury and Harry Maguire’s suspension shows how much depth could matter as the season goes on. Whether the former Villarreal star starts against Thomas Tuchel’s men tonight remains to be seen, however.
