Manchester United players in tears with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the brink of being sacked after Watford defeat

According to SunSport, Manchester United players were in tears in the dressing room as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to be sacked after the humiliating defeat to Watford.

The Red Devils succumbed to yet another defeat on Saturday night as the Hornets ran rampant at Vicarage Road. There was a lot of chaos throughout the game, but the actual drama began after the full-time whistle blew.

Solskjaer and the entire team went towards the away stands and thanked them for their support. However, the fans were sarcastically cheering him on and booing him at the same time. Bruno Fernandes was then pictured signalling to the supporters to blame the players and not just the manager.

Fred and Solskjaer later steered the Portuguese playmaker away from any confrontation. However, it seems like it is the end for the gaffer with players and staff members apparently in tears after the embarrassing defeat.

Nothing went right for Solskjaer on the day and he is set to pay the ultimate price for it. It is understood that vice executive chairman, Ed Woodward, and his successor, Richard Arnold, were not present at the game, according to Manchester Evening News. But that is not going to stop them from sacking the manager and bringing in somebody as soon as possible.

Replacements are plotted with Zinedine Zidane one of the options on the list. However, his wife is opposed to the move, according to The Times (Subscription Required) [h/t The Sun].

A new era is set to begin at Old Trafford and Solskjaer is highly unlikely to take charge of the game against Villarreal in mid-week.
