Transfer News: Leicester City star Wesley Fofana reveals his desire to play for Manchester United
According to Actu Foot (h/t Sport Witness), Leicester City player Wesley Fofana has revealed his interest to play for Manchester United amid interest from the Red Devils.
Wesley Fofana has been a critical player for the Foxes under Brendan Rodgers. He already has featured 42 times for Leicester this season, and he has helped his team keep a clean sheet in 8 games in the Premier League. The youngster has shown reliable defending abilities that made him a viable option for the manager.
On the other hand, Manchester United faced a defensive dilemma in the last few games. The backline seemed vulnerable against Premier League’s top attacking side. Furthermore, the centre backs gave a poor display in the 5-0 loss against bitter rival Liverpool. Despite signing Raphaël Varane, there are still some holes in the Manchester United defence.
It is believed that United made the youngster a ‘priority target’ for the coming transfer windows.
Now, the Foxes player reveals that he also has an interest in playing at Old Trafford. In a question asked by journalist Fabrice Hawkins, he took the club’s names that make him dream.
“A club that makes me dream? There’s Marseille, Real Madrid, Barça. In the Premier League, there are Chelsea, United, City… But you have to work to make your dreams come true. Through work, you can achieve anything.”
The 20-year-old player can make a massive difference in the defence and provide greater depth to the squad. At the current moment, the Red Devils don’t have many qualified backups for the position. Victor Lindelöf and Eric Bailly’s recent performance has been volatile, and Phil Jones hasn’t been featured for a long time.
