Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo amongst 6 players involved in ‘crisis talks’ with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of Watford game
According to the Daily Mail (h/t The Express), Cristiano Ronaldo was one of 6 Manchester United players involved in ‘crisis talks’ with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ahead of the game against Watford.
The Portuguese superstar completed his return in the summer and has provided his fair share of contributions. He has scored 9 goals in 12 games, including three match-winning goals.
However, the area of concern is the need for match-winners. The star was brought in to win trophies, not help United compete for a Top 4 spot. The performances have been abysmal for the last two months, and Solskjaer looks out of his depth.
But he got a much-needed break after the Man City defeat. They are now set to face Watford on Saturday before crunch ties against Villarreal, Chelsea, and Arsenal. To turn things around, Solskjaer held crisis talks with six members of his star-studded squad.
Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were a part of it. England duo Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were also present, with the former coming into the game on the back of guiding England to the 2022 World Cup. Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic were also involved in the conversation.
The Norwegian boss wanted to discuss the current system they are operating in with the back three. The 48-year-old is well aware of the uncertainty surrounding his future. The Glazers have not taken a decision yet, but the gaffer is on ‘thin ice.’

Replacements have also been plotted, with Brendan Rodgers apparently a frontrunner for the job. Zinedine Zidane is also a potential option, but he is currently enjoying his life out of management.
Erik Ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino are viable alternatives despite their commitments to their respective clubs. Ralf Rangnick was thought to be in the running, but his combative nature has ruled him out. Thus, there are several options, and if Solskjaer wants to rubbish the rumours, the performances and subsequent results shall need to change soon.
