Newcastle United eye Manchester United trio of Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson, and Jesse Lingard in January
According to the Daily Mail (h/t The Mirror), Newcastle United are planning a raid on Manchester United in the January transfer window for the services of Donny van de Beek, Dean Henderson, and Jesse Lingard. The trio has not been preferred by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in his lineups recently.
Newcastle were subjected to a takeover from the Saudi-backed Public Investment Fund amidst backlash. They became one of the richest clubs in the world as a result and have recently appointed Eddie Howe as their new manager.
It is said that Van de Beek is looking for a move away in January for more game time, whereas Lingard’s future is uncertain. The Magpies are looking to take advantage and price a transfer for the United trio to bolster their squad, with Dean Henderson also cautious about his career after still being unable to displace David de Gea between the sticks.
The Dutchman moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2020 after Man Utd paid a fee of £35m to Ajax. However, he has largely been cast aside by Solskjaer, who has faced scrutiny from fans and players alike.
The 28-year-old will have his contract come to an end next summer and, it is suggested that he will leave as a free agent. The Toons could offer a small sum for him, and the Red Devils could be swayed since they would lose him for nothing next year.
The 24-year-old has switched agents recently to find a new club in the coming transfer window. The Englishman wants to be on the squad for the World Cup, but his lack of minutes could hinder his chances of getting called up.

With £50million to spend in the winter transfer window, signing the midfield duo could be a good deal for the new owners at St. James’ Park. It would also help the Glazers to cut costs and get a decent sum from sales and released wages. It remains to be seen what lies in store for the out of favour Man Utd stars as they look to get consistent playtime.
