Manchester United board have decided to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if current form continues
According to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News), the Manchester United board has decided on the future of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer following the international break. Solskjaer is under pressure as his managerial position has been questioned many times this season.
The Red Devils have been inconsistent this campaign and have lost to Manchester City in their most recent fixture. They sit sixth in the Premier League table with 17 points from 11 matches. The Red Devils have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by West Ham United.
Ole was at the mercy of the board following the disastrous loss at the hands of Liverpool at Old Trafford. But they decided to stick with him against the desires of many supporters. Even the games that United won or drew were questionable at times as they had to rally to get themselves back.
It is said that the hierarchy has decided to fire the United coach if he fails to immediately turn things around in the matches after the break. While it is not definite, the resolution would still give hope to the supporters that it would happen eventually.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will run into a tough run of fixtures as they fave Villarreal, Chelsea and Arsenal respectively after the opening match against Watford. It is tough to see a positive end for the manager looking at the circumstances.
Fans would be puzzled by the news as they may feel that time is something that the boss always had at the club. The sentiment around those who supported the former United striker has also changed this season.
