Zinedine Zidane virtually ruled out for the managerial position at Manchester United

According to Spanish paper AS (h/t The Sun), Zinedine Zidane could be out of contention for the manager’s role at Manchester United should anything happen to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The French manager worked wonders at Real Madrid as he led the Spanish giants to back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles. Zidane has established himself as a wonderful manager over the course and would be a great addition to any team in the world.

In the meanwhile, Ole is under mounting pressure for the lack of consistency and intensity in his group of players. The Norwegian has failed to win any trophy with the Red Devils as a manager. The board has backed him heavily by bringing in some top-notch players like Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, and Cristiano Ronaldo during his tenure.

Despite this the 48-year-old manager has found it difficult to succeed on a consistent basis. His team has suffered humiliating losses to fellow rivals Manchester City and Liverpool in recent weeks. There was an inherent lack of intensity and character from the players in red during the Manchester derby.

It is thought that Zizou will not take up the Manchester United job and can only be tempted back into coaching at a European club where there is a ‘clear winning project’. The Red Devils on the other hand have been in shambles with inconsistent results and a lack of character at times.

It is also believed that the former Real Madrid manager is waiting for the French National coaching job. It seems as though the hierarchy and structure at Man United may not be enough to lure the Zidane to Old Trafford.

The supporters are growing increasingly frustrated with the current brand of football at the red side of Manchester. The board could be forced to make an unfavourable decision regarding Ole’s future even though it is highly unlikely that they will be able to land the French manager.
