Real Madrid enter the race to sign Manchester United target Ruben Neves
According to Fichajes (h/t The Hard Tackle), Manchester United target Ruben Neves is being eyed by European giants Real Madrid.
The 24-year-old has played 188 games for Wolverhampton Wanderers during which time he has scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions. The Portuguese midfielder has played an instrumental role for Wolves ever since joining from FC Porto in 2017.
Liverpool and Real Madrid are the latest clubs that are linked to Neves. He has been on the radar of the top clubs for quite a while now and Arsenal were also seeming interested in the former Porto player.
The Red Devils have struggled in the middle of the pitch this season. Bruno Fernandes has been their only glimmer of hope on several occasions but even he needs some support from time to time. Fred and Scott McTominay have failed to create a resolute protective covering for the backline that has leaked several goals this season.
The Old Trafford outfit could certainly use an exciting midfielder like Ruben Neves who could give them something going forward as well as create a solid presence in the middle of the pitch. The Wanderers have nurtured him into a more developed player and a new challenge could be a tempting offer at this moment.
His current contract at Molineux stadium lasts until 2024 and it is believed that Madrid may have to fork out somewhere in the region of €40-50 million in transfer fees. This means that the Portuguese midfielder would certainly not be a cheap acquisition for any club.
The Red Devils already have a plethora of midfielders like Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek who are struggling for regular game time at Old Trafford. Both of them have become seemingly frustrated with the lack of opportunities and given to them at the Manchester club and may even prefer a switch to another team.

Any move for the Wolves midfielder is only speculatory at the moment but Los Blancos joining the race would only make things tougher for the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool. It would take something really special to influence the Wanderers to let their prized asset leave the club after being such a great resource for several years.
