Transfer News: Manchester United star Phil Jones eyed by 13 clubs in January move
According to transfer news on The Sun, Manchester United ace Phil Jones is on the radar of 13 clubs amidst a potential move in January.
The 29-year-old was a regular in the squad for nearly every manager post the Sir Alex Ferguson era. Jose Mourinho and Louis Van Gaal often played the centre-back in their starting lineups, if not a sure-shot name on the bench.
However, all that changed for Jones once Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the reins of the club. The defender fell down the pecking order in the Norwegian’s first full season in charge as United got in Harry Maguire from Leicester City.
Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, and Maguire became regular starters, while Axel Tuanzebe also came into the squad. Jones last played a game in January 2020 and was injured until the start of this season.
However, Solskjaer is impressed with the work put in by the former Blackburn Rovers man in training and he could still hold a place in United’s squad this season, especially after Raphael Varane’s injury and with the issues surrounding the fitness of Lindelof.
Despite all of this, the English international has garnered interest from as many as 13 Premier League clubs for a potential move in January.

Premier League clubs Watford and Newcastle United are believed to be interested in securing a loan deal for the player, while Wayne Rooney is also open to bringing his former teammate to Derby County, amongst other Championship clubs.
It is thought that the Old Trafford outfit received 60-plus loan enquires for several players this summer, and quite a few of them were for Jones. Regardless, any move in January might involve a reasonable transfer, especially since the defender still has two years on his contract.
