Some fans react on Twitter as Manchester United lose 0-2 to Man City in the derby
As confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account, Manchester United lost 0-2 to Man City at Old Trafford in the derby.
The most optimistic of United fans would not be surprised by this result, especially given the manner of the defeat. Liverpool came to the theatre of dreams a couple of weeks ago and delivered a smashing performance that silenced the nosiest of our set of fans.
City, on the other hand, taught us that this team is a far distance from winning the Premier League. It looked like it was going to be a long day when the Etihad outfit found the first goal in the opening 7 minutes, as Joao Cancelo produced a dangerous cross, which Eric Bailly felt obligated to clear.
However, the Ivorian instead turned the ball inside his own net as David de Gea looked bemused at the defender’s effort. Pep Guardiola came with a game plan, and it was working out to a peach, partially thanks to an ineffective press from our frontline.
Mason Greenwood was brought in instead of Marcus Rashford for his lethal ability upfront, but the Englishman neither got a chance to attack and could not get near the ball while defending it.
The second goal came at the stroke of half-time as Cancelo delivered yet another enticing cross, and the hard-working Bernardo Silva got on the end and somehow tapped it past De Gea from an acute angle.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer changed things at half-time as he brought on Jadon Sancho, while Rashford, Alex Telles, and Donny van de Beek also made it on the pitch in the second half.
However, to no avail, as City controlled the half and worked the ball as United chased shadows with Cristiano Ronaldo’s frustration clear as he kicked into Kevin de Bruyne five minutes from time. Solskjaer is set to come under intense scrutiny during the international break, and it remains to be seen whether he’ll remain at the helm when we play Watford after two weeks.
Let us now take a look at how some of the United fans reacted on Twitter to the team’s disastrous performance in the all-important derby.
