Manchester United star Edinson Cavani out with injury against Man City
According to Uruguayan journalist Rodrigo Romano (h/t The Sun), Manchester United star Edinson Cavani is set to be out for the game against Man City due to a tendon injury.
The 34-year-old had suffered for game-time at the start of the season, but his experience came through for United when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer selected the striker for the Tottenham Hotspur game. Cavani linked up well with Cristiano Ronaldo, and the pair scored a goal each before Marcus Rashford finished things off.
However, towards the dying embers of the Spurs game, the Uruguayan apparently had pain in his tendon, courtesy of which he was also named on the bench for the Atalanta outing. It is now understood that the centre-forward is going to miss out on the game against Man City.
Uruguayan journalist Rodrigo Romano claimed (h/t The Sun):
“Cavani will not play tomorrow (against Man City). It will not happen. He has had a very severe pain in a tendon for two days. That was the pain he felt at 80 minutes of the game against Tottenham, and that did not let him start against Atalanta.
“He is in recovery. He does not play tomorrow. DOES NOT PLAY TOMORROW.”

Cavani was also left out by Uruguay for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers. From the viewpoint of the gaffer, this is perhaps the last thing he wanted. Paul Pogba is already suspended for a game after his red card against Liverpool a couple of weeks while Raphael Varane also picked up a hamstring injury against Atalanta and is set to be out for a month.
The pressure has been mounting on the Norwegian since losing 5-0 to the Anfield outfit, and another thrashing by Man City could put his job in danger.
